Student Interviews

I would like to work in security research in the future, after absorbing various knowledge and experiences from mature students in IISEC.

I chose information security as a field of research that would benefit society

When I was a high school student, I became interested in security after attending a special lecture by the Police Security Centre. I think this experience created the image of "information security = research and work useful for society." I chose a department at university where I could study some aspect of security, but I wanted to contribute to society with more specialised research, so I enrolled in this graduate school.

We can learn the skills we need for work, because there are many mature students

Nearly 90% of the students at IISEC are mature students. Moreover, most of them have been or will be in charge of information security-related work. When I listen to their discussion in class, I realise my lack of knowledge. However, it is also advantageous that there are many opportunities to absorb real voices and cutting-edge examples from the other students. I would also like to improve my interpersonal skills while at IISEC, so that I can integrate smoothly into a future workplace.

Make the network a reliable social infrastructure through information security assessment

In my Master's research, I hope to apply the network reliability assessment that I learnt at university, to the assessment of information security. If the network becomes more secure, it can be used as a reliable social infrastructure. I think it brings us one step closer to my ideal of "research that would benefit society."
