Information science and technology has a tremendous impact on the whole society and it is an important technology that will continue to support society in the future. Information network systems are now becoming an increasingly important social infrastructure as a shared infrastructure for humankind. However, whilst various conveniences in daily life and economic activities have improved, vulnerabilities to system safety and reliability and risks such as information disclosure, leakage, and alteration have also increased. Therefore, Information Security from a broad perspective is becoming more and more important. However, education and research related to Information Security have not been systematically organised and practiced at existing universities and graduate schools in Japan. The shortage of human resources with advanced technology, knowledge, analytical abilities in this field is becoming a serious problem, and it can be a major problem for the future development of the information society.
Our graduate school provides education on Information Security, which is an interdisciplinary comprehensive science covering a wide range of fields such as technology, management and operation, legal system, and information ethics. We invite researchers and business people who are active on the front lines of each field to nurture students with advanced expertise and skills and high ethical standards to realise a highly reliable society. We train engineers who will be responsible for technical measures in Information Security and managers who will be leaders in the operation and management of Information Security.
As admission criteria, students must have the basic academic ability necessary to promote research after admission, as well as ethics and problem awareness regarding the information society. We emphasise the willingness and independence of conducting research with a sincere manner. We welcome students who are not necessarily bounded by the field of expertise, interested in new themes, and aim for self-actualisation and social contribution whilst studying hard with other students from various backgrounds.
