Researching the most effective way of educating people about the future of content protection policies.

I have been interested in information security since my graduate research project

I read Educational Technology at university, where I gained experience in producing teaching materials using video and running workshops. In this process, I decided to go on to further study because I wanted to study more about the protection of participants' personal information and portrait rights, and intellectual property rights related to video production in general. IISEC offers a wide range of subjects with information security as a core, and I was attracted by the fact that I could do interdisciplinary research.

I want to focus on education with content protection in mind

I joined Prof. Hayashi's research lab, which deals with content protection and other issues. Content creation is becoming easier and we need a new framework for the protection of intellectual property rights. I would like to use my experience at Tsukuba University to research educational methods to inform the public about such knowledge.

Lots of contact with the real world to help prepare you for your first career

For me, a graduate school is a period of preparation to develop the skills I need to work in society. IISEC has many mature students and the faculty members also have a lot of practical experience in their respective industry. I would also like to improve my communication and logical thinking skills at IISEC. The professor in my lab introduced me to the Creative Commons*, which enabled me to conduct research outside the graduate school, as I had no social experience. I am looking forward to a much wider exchange than I expected.

* A non-profitable organisation that advocates for the treatment of intellectual property rights in accordance with current conditions.
